Hats off to Mellowtone!
This year they’ve already brought us Kathryn Williams, King Creosote, Thom Yorkston and Above the Beaten Track. But they’re not resting on their laurels, not at all. As they approach their 10th anniversary celebrations in November they’ve got another high-profile gig for us to get our musical teeth into.
Monday 8th December sees Leaf on Bold Street play host to hugely revered Yorkshire folk musician Michael Chapman who will be performing with Hastings-based guitar expert James Blackshaw.
If you don’t know who Michael Chapman is you can check out his profile here. Suffice it to say, it’s a mystery why someone of Chapman’s stature has been spurned by the mainstream media for so long. Although widely seen as a folk musician his performances are just as likely to wander into the realms of jazz, rock, ragtime, and experimental music.
Joining Chapman on the road for a six date tour is James Blackshaw, who has an impressive body of guitar recordings to his name along with experience touring with Swans and Current 93.
Support on the night is from Cabin in the Woods, plus Beaten Tracks DJ.
Tickets are £12.50 in advance from skiddle or on the door on the night.
